The band had a great day today. In addition to one of the last rehearsals before the coming gig at Railroad Days in Moberly on June 7th, we were tweaking the mix of the live show. The most convenient way for us to test our new mixes is to broadcast it (which also records) and then listen back. So, this is what we did today. We’d play. Listen back. Play some more. Listen again. And, so forth.
It was great to have a few members of our leadership team tuning in too. Thankfully, they have a lot of grace for us because we were making some doozies in the mistake department. But rehearsal is the time to explore a bit, of course. Right?
Then, the band sat down for a spaghetti dinner to enjoy each other’s company and catch up a bit. Thanks AJ! We talked about Vidalia onions & prayer; and vacation islands & Mother Teresa. All of which can bring a tear to your eye at times. Mother Teresa’s story was one of some serious contemplation. I think most of us have a natural tendency to be good people. We care about others and we want to help them. We have to replenish though. One cannot give 100% of the time and have longevity. We can’t be any good to others if we aren’t taking care of ourselves. So, get rest my friends. Eat well. Get your heart rate pumping on a regular basis. Be healthy.
That’s kind of what we are doing musically right now. We are taking care of the music. Writing and preparing it for the reveal; for giving; for sharing. It feels like we are a bit out of the loop and in a retreat right now. We have to do this to produce and we appreciate your patience in the process. Beyond simply producing music, it really is something we must do. We process emotionally through it. We connect to each other though it. And, we sit in the awe of the creation with the One who provides us the means to do it. So, you can imagine that the truth is we really enjoy this time away. It’s a bit magical and living within the creative process can be quite invigorating. This album, like all of them, is for us. But, we sincerely hope that you embrace it too. We will be thrilled to share the new music with you…in its own time.
