Reflection On The Road Ahead

by Mat on December 20, 2012

Life can be full of peaks and valleys, as you know. It’s wonderful to have friends & family by your side to experience the high times and to help you through the low ones. We have had a wonderful 2012 in so many ways. You all poured your hearts out during our Joplin: One Year Later event. We are humbled by your giving nature; our family, friends and fans. We experienced an awesome, yet brief, tour to Tennessee and another incredible one to California. Epic is the word we’d use to describe the 16 date tour through six states! The people at the shows makes the music come alive and we are so grateful to those of you who made it to the live shows. Our regular live internet broadcasts are much the same way and we really enjoy seeing the same faces at many of the shows, and of course, we love meeting the new faces you bring.

We are indebted to everyone that voted for, and liked, and followed, and shared the band this year helping us with all the contests in 2012. Thank you! We saw some fruit from your investment in us with the winning of an opening slot for SLASH, formerly of Guns ‘N’ Roses. Our short set at the 3000 seat venue made it on the career highlight list, for sure. And, meeting the people after the show was, again, what made it. We also had our fifth World Tour In A Day. It’s always a challenge both physically and mentally to pull off five shows in one day. The reward of playing to people all across the world is still cherished.

This would be a great time to thank the Dirval Music Associates team. DMA is the crew that makes all of our virtual world existence happen. From booking events, to building stages, to show management, to technical expertise, these guys are our heroes. Specifically, Jenna Dirval and Doran Forzane. Thank you both for your investment in The Follow! The rest our our virtual team is also amazing. And, they are anything but virtual to us. You are all the Real Deal! Thank you. It’s been wonderful to have the official street team relaunch this year, too. Rachel Emborg has been prodigious with the team and we are pleased to have her at the helm.

The band members have been going through some life transitions during the last quarter of 2012. These transitions have brought with them some peaks. And, there have also been some valleys. One of the valleys we have been experiencing is taking time off from music. We have been away from writing, rehearsing, recording, and performing during the past several weeks. It feels weird. It feels wrong. We are beholden to those who have been walking with us during this time.

We are heartily looking forward to 2013 and to diving back into the music. We don’t know what it will look like for us during this new season. On January 13th, 2013, The Follow will be 24 years old. As you can imagine, we have experienced many various types of seasons during this many years. Some bright, some dark. Some productive, some not so much. But all of these times have revealed great purpose with hindsight. Albeit tough, we have this faith in our hearts and minds as we enter this new period for the band and the music. We are looking forward to doing this leg of the journey with you.

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to you all. Have a safe New Year’s Eve and see you in 2013!

Warmest Blessings,

Amy, Troy, & Mat
