The Follow Returns to SL – Gives Away Show to Venue

by Mat on November 1, 2014

The Follow has taken about a two year break from regular shows in Second Life (SL). There were a few shows here and there, but for the most part we weren’t around due to life circumstances. Now that the new album is finished, we’re giving away our first show back as a THANK YOU to Second Life venues. You have created a place for us to shine and we are grateful for your dedication to live music in the metaverse. To submit your venue, please click the following picture and fill out the form.

The venue owners in Second Life have been huge supporters of The Follow. They have provided a place allowing people from all over the world to find The Follow and to become fans. These fans, and venues, have supported album releases, tours, and more with their kind words, attendance at shows, and with their hard-earned, real life money. We are humbled and blessed by this.

The past couple years have taken The Follow away from regular performances for a few reasons. First and foremost the loss of our dear brother, Kent Rickertsen, stopped us in our tracks. His passing after the thousand day battle with ALS left an immense hole in our hearts. Music couldn’t come. It didn’t feel right in the following months.

Eventually, new songs began to be placed on Troy’s heart. Once they began, they came at a rapid rate; overwhelming at times in speed and in emotion. 18 months later, the new songs are recorded and currently being mastered for an album release. This means that the band is ready to end the live performance hiatus and we’re ready to rock! We can’t wait to share the new music with you. But most of all, we can’t wait to see you, connect with you, and simply engage with our amazing online family that is Second Life.

What’s this thing called Second Life? Well, it’s a virtual world that requires a software download to your computer that allows you to create an avatar and interact within the world. With the avatar you can walk around in a 3 dimensional world where you can fly, go to concerts, ride surfboards, go to church, and do pretty much anything that you do in real life without the limitations this world places on you.

Ready or not, here we come!
